RAMAPO, N.Y. (AP) — A U.S. Postal Service employee is facing an upgraded felony charge after a video circulated on social media appeared to show a Jewish child being pushed to the ground in Rockland County, police said Saturday.

The Town of Ramapo Police Department said the incident occurred Thursday around 6:25 p.m. in the Viola section of Ramapo and came to authorities’ attention a day later.
Following an investigation, police said a 39-year-old Stony Point man, identified as Gabriel Stan, intentionally shoved a 4-year-old child while performing his duties.
Stan was initially charged with endangering the welfare of a child and attempted assault in the third degree. Police said an additional charge of attempted assault in the second degree, a felony, was later filed based on the ages of the suspect and the child.
He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Ramapo Justice Court at a later date.
Police said they have not identified a motive and did not say whether any hate crime charges would be added.
Authorities did not immediately respond to requests for further comment. Requests for comment from the United States Postal Service were not immediately returned.

That poor child. Painful to watch.
We can never condone anyone touching a chid. However this incident should be a wake up call. Too often children interact with service workers as if they are their friends. I see every Shabbos children running after the garbage men as they collect the garbage. On Yom tov the cops standing in front of shuls get pestered for hours with silly and often embarrassing questions. The children should be reminded you can be friendly to these service workers but they aren’t your friends.
Of course, an article by AP has a heading “child pushed”. They won’t write “postal worker pushes child”. As if it happens by itself.
assaulting a 4-year old child should earn him a vacation at club fed, at least long enough to cool down.
