The deceased was the daughter of a well-known charitable individual, Rabbi Chaim Cohen, who previously served as an aide to the Rebbe of Toldot Avraham Yitzchak and currently heads the “Linat HaChesed” soup kitchen in Mea Shearim, which distributes food to thousands year-round, as well as in Uman at the grave of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov during Rosh Hashanah. Her father is also among the key figures who assisted in the restoration of the gravesite of the “Pele Yoetz,” near where she was killed.

Upon reaching marriage age, she married Rabbi Chaim Betzalel Singer, the son of Rabbi Yechiel Singer and grandson of the late Rabbi Yaakov Yosef Singer, former rabbi of Givat Shmuel.

Together they built their chasidic home on the foundations of Torah. Leah, of blessed memory, was a dedicated and regular volunteer for the “Yad Avraham” organization, founded by the late Rabbi Shimon Braun, in the lobby of the Hadassah hospital’s Mother and Child building.

The couple had hoped for children for 16 years. This year, they traveled to Bulgaria for a Pesach holiday vacation, to rest, regain strength, and pray for children at the gravesite of the “Pele Yoetz.”

On the way back to the hotel in Varna, she was traveling in a car with friends when, tragically, she was killed in a severe accident, to the great sorrow of all. She was a truly exceptional woman, devoted to acts of kindness and always helping others.

Moti Bukchin, spokesperson for ZAKA, said this evening:

“The international unit of ZAKA, led by Nachman Dikstein, commander of ZAKA Europe, together with Chaim Weingarten, deputy director of operations, is working in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to bring the deceased back to Israel. There are some difficulties, including the tight schedule ahead of the holiday, but every effort is being made to return her as quickly as possible.”

The mayor of Silistra in Bulgaria, (where the gravesite of the “Pele Yoetz” is located) Ivan Kirilov Andonov, spoke on Monday evening with Rabbi Chaim Raavad, chairman of the Pele Yoetz Heritage Foundation, which manages the site. He expressed his condolences over the tragic accident and offered the assistance of local authorities to the families involved.

May her soul be bound in the bond of eternal life.

There is a heartwrenching letter circulating where she expresses pain, hope and gratitude in regards to her infertility. Its very inspiring.

For rest of us the lesson is to be greatful for what we do have and always try to support and help those who are suffering.

The least we should do is despise and stay away from people who hurt and destroy!
The details include the lowlife decision makers of Mosdos who throw out innocent children, the scums who breakup families, the holier than thaw reshaim who treat those who don’t live up to their own made up version yiddishkiet standards. Its the highest time their hypocrisy is exposed!
