Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said the incident is under investigation by the department’s Internal Affairs Bureau following public concern over the footage.
The video shows officers in plainclothes repeatedly striking a man during an arrest inside a store in the Cobble Hill neighborhood. The confrontation, which occurred in the afternoon, left merchandise scattered and the man bloodied, according to accounts of the incident.
Authorities said the encounter stemmed from an undercover operation targeting suspected drug activity in the area. One individual was arrested in connection with the investigation, though prosecutors later declined to pursue certain charges tied to the incident.
There are a number of videos circulating online of an incident that occurred yesterday inside a store in Brooklyn involving two members of the NYPD.
As I said at a press conference earlier today, these videos are deeply disturbing, and the matter is under active investigation…

The violence used by NYPD officers in this video is extremely disturbing and unacceptable. Officers should never treat a person this way. The NYPD is conducting a full investigation into this incident. https://t.co/zdQllljhyh

Be smart and don’t resist arrest
I see a person resisting arrest…….
What other choice did the cops have ? Walk away ?
Um… hmmm I don’t see a problem with any of this. When you violently resist arrest, cops will wrestle to arrest you. See, when they do a choke hold they call cops bad, when they don’t do a choke hold they call cops bad… see the pattern…
Cops are bad
Give the officers a promotion
Okay, maybe punching was a little too much but hey, if the perp would have done what the cops told him to do, he would not have gotten punched.
The other thing is, you gotta watch the whole video and not just the snippet that we were shown.
I miss the good ole days, when giving a miscreant “the business ” was a recognized part of the job. Gotta bring back the days of the wood shampoo.
As usual the video begins well after the confrontation is underway. I want to know what happened BEFORE this film begins.
Why were the cops called in the first place?
Why did they try to arrest him?
Did he strike any of the cops?
The perp was a very strong man and refused to cooperate with the police. They had to beat him hard, but still he refused to cooperate. We see how long and hard it was to put the handcuffs on him.
The police should get a reward. Madmani should apologize..
so much easier to just shoot him
And this is a problem?
I think this video is much too violent to be posted on this site
The problem seems to be that the police did not say, “excuse me” before beating the “s” out of him.
Shvartsas beating up other shvartsas! How much longer can they live like this!? Nebach
