Iran Threatens To Sink US Ships, Take ‘Thousands Of Hostages’ If US Closes Hormuz Strait

NEW YORK (VINnews) — The military advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mohsen Rezaee, warned that Iran may attack American ships in the Strait of Hormuz. He said Tehran would “sink” U.S. vessels if the United States tries to act as a “policeman” in the area.

In an interview with state television, Rezaee claimed that Donald Trump is attempting to impose control over the strait, adding: “Your ships will be exposed to our missiles, and we can destroy them.”

He also described a further escalation scenario, saying that a U.S. ground invasion of Iran could become an “opportunity” for Tehran. According to him, Iran could take thousands of hostages and demand one billion dollars for each.

Rezaee emphasized that he personally opposes extending the ceasefire and stated that Iran will not give up control over the Strait of Hormuz as long as its rights are not fully respected. He stressed that control of the waterway is a central element of Iran’s strategic and security policy.

Meanwhile, the tracking company TankerTrackers reported that additional tankers managed to bypass restrictions on Iranian ports and are now in Iranian waters.
Some ships sailing toward Iraq reportedly turned off their AIS tracking systems to conceal their movements.

At the same time, Trump said he wants to end the war with Iran quickly, emphasizing that the way to bring Tehran back to negotiations is to “increase pressure.” Reports indicate that U.S. and Iranian negotiating teams are making significant progress toward a framework agreement to end the war. The talks are being mediated by countries including Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey.

A Pakistani delegation led by Army Chief Asim Munir has arrived in Tehran for discussions. Senior U.S. officials, including Vice President J.D. Vance, are conducting behind-the-scenes negotiations.
