One soldier, who stuck a cigarette in the mouth of a statue of Mary, was sentenced to 21 days of military prison, and a soldier who filmed the incident was sentenced to 14 days, a military spokesperson said.
It comes soon after soldiers who participated in hacking down a crucifix in southern Lebanon also received time in military prison.

It’s a good thing they aren’t sentencing Avrohom Avinu for “desecrating” Terach’s desecrations.
Political Correctness run amok. They are not criminals. They are heroes
If VIN does not remove the inappropriate comments (that cause a Chilul Hashem and risk Pikuach Nefesh r”l, by giving Jew haters “ammunition” and fuel…) we should all contact our Rabbonim and all the advertisers on this website and have them withdraw their support immediately!
I’m giving it till midnight!
its the right thing to do, I am happy that JAG generals from their offices dispense justice.
Vandalism it is !
Stupid it is ,
But stop calling it desecration.
If Christian’s claim they don’t worship idols then what is the fuss all about? In today’s context it was destroying someone else’s property. Ok, pay for damages and move on.
Should be terminated from active duty, fully pay for the vandalism damages and call it a day since the world will not care to publish this.
While the PR disaster bothers me, especially with the few (Angelical/Christian) friends have left, you have to put it all in context. If you’re so gung-ho about getting frum to serve in combat, you may have to deal with kanoyim who will do: “v’es matzeivosam teshabeirun”
