BROOKLYN, N.Y. (VINnews) — A prominent member of Brooklyn’s Satmar community shared a personal story this week highlighting what he described as the humility and character of Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso.

The story was recounted by Mr. Jacob Gluck during a meeting with Reynoso and was later posted in a video by the Williamsburg-based WMSBG X account.

According to Gluck, he was returning home late one evening with numerous packages in his vehicle and was hoping someone would pass by and help him carry them inside. As he unloaded the items, a man riding a bicycle stopped and offered assistance.
Gluck said the man helped carry the packages and, when the task was completed, he offered him a small tip as a gesture of appreciation.
“The man told me, ‘I’m the borough president. I don’t take tips,'” Gluck recalled.
Believing the man was joking, Gluck said he later contacted David Niderman, executive director of the United Jewish Organizations of Williamsburg and North Brooklyn, to verify the claim.
Niderman confirmed that the cyclist was indeed Reynoso, Gluck said.
Speaking directly to Reynoso this week, Gluck praised the borough president for remaining accessible and connected to residents despite holding one of Brooklyn’s highest elected offices.
Gluck also compared Reynoso’s political trajectory to that of former President Barack Obama, noting that Obama rose from local and state-level positions before becoming president of the United States.
“I wish you the same success,” Gluck told Reynoso, expressing hope that the borough president’s political future continues to advance.
The exchange drew smiles and applause from those in attendance and highlighted Reynoso’s longstanding relationship with communities across the borough.
Reynoso, a Brooklyn native, has served as borough president since 2022 after previously representing parts of Brooklyn on the New York City Council.
From the choices he’s the best, its just a shame that he’s catering to the antisemites by promoting genocide, and condemning the event in Flatbush instead of the violent protesters showing up and intimidating the Jewish neighborhood.
Antonio, whose side are you on? if you want the Jewish vote don’t promote genocide besides that it stinks in moral clarity, it wont play for your politics if you want our vote!!
The Brooklyn Borough President was indeed a mench for helping an elderly gentleman with his packages, especially at night.
I have met him and personally he is a real mentch. It’s a shame that his politics are so left-wing.
