    85

VINnews has unveiled a redesigned homepage, introducing a cleaner, more modern layout aimed at making it easier for readers to find breaking news, opinion, obituaries, and trending stories. The updated site features a streamlined navigation menu, expanded news sections, and more prominent access to WhatsApp alerts and podcasts.

The redesign includes new dedicated sections for  “Most Read,” “Most Commented,” “Opinion & Analysis,” and Obituaries, giving readers quicker access to the content they care about most.

What do you think of the new look?

Is it an improvement over the previous homepage? What features do you like, and what would you change?

Share your thoughts in the comments.

For those who hate the new VINnews homepage design, let me remind you of something…

When we last redesigned the site in 2019, we posted this exact article asking for your feedback. The comments were filled with readers saying they preferred the old design and wanted us to switch back.

Fast forward a few months, and the vast majority of readers had adjusted—and many came to appreciate the improvements.

Change is always an adjustment, especially for a website you visit every day. Give it a little time before making up your mind.

Take a look back at the comments from 2019:

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!! Please go back to the old format. This new page is too “busy”. I prefer the older page which was simpler and easier to navigate. There’s too much going on on this new format. Please go back to the old page.

I think the font is “really off” and unpleasant to look at. Its small and cozy and the font size of start of article under headline is so terribly small you can hardly see it on mobile phone. WHY I ASK you WHY??
There is no way a professional set this up

It was much better when you didn’t have to scroll all the way past the most read and most commented.

So what’s your point for asking for feedback if you don’t listen to them anyway, you guys are just hoping that a few months we will adapt.
BTW you guys are too stupid to understand that feedback is only in the beginning, the vast majority did not adapt they just stopped giving you feedback you didn’t want since you don’t listen anyway.

I find the redesign so hard to use that I’ll probably switch to another site. Not at all user-friendly!

With all due respect to VIN. Nobody cares about a silly redesign, whats important to people is that you stop silencing their view points just because you’re insecure with the narrative.

Part of it is of course the change is jarring, so it hard to separate what is a first impression that I’ll get used to and what is actually an issue, but the sizing is smaller and it is very busy so it is hard to focus on the stories.

You have to scroll very far to see the sidebar start scrolling, you just think it is stuck.

Very nice but you what would be even nicer? If you cleaned up VIN and stopped allowing people to post vulgar language and content. At one point you announced you were implementing new rules and now it’s just slid back into ……

Please ask me again in 2 weeks, once I’ve tried to get used to change, as for now I think you got your answer…

Very clean. I’m just nervous about the “Most Commented” section. Sounds like a petri dish for slander, lies, and spewing hate. I’d do away with it. Other than that, you do you. People will get used to the change. Hatzlacha!

Some suggestions: 1. Opinion pieces more than a week old aren’t relevant and shouldn’t be on your home page. 2. Avoid redundancy – you have the same story multiple times under various categories. 3. News stories should also be eliminated from your home page after a day or so. 4. Consider organizing content based on various themes: community news, Israel, politics etc

Seems like it was changed because people convinced you that it needed to be updated, to be more relevant. It looks way more AI generated and also very similar to most other mainstream clickbait ‘news’ sites.
I’m sure people will get used to it, but personally I have started to avoid those type of sites and preferred VIN exactly because it was not one of those sites.
It’s not like I’m going to boycott, but I’m sure I’m going to be spending for less time on the site. Overall, I don’t think that you’ll lose readership, it’s just another corporate example of being a sheep, instead of being a shepherd.

Where is the dov hikind section. It’s important to read his input on things. He knows better than all of us and even Hillary and trump and rav avigdor Miller consult him on a regular basis

It now looks even similar to other jewish news website – not very distinct anymore.
The new look is ok – fonts on desktop are slightly too big. but why dont you concentrate on more important issues.
Many years ago I registered on VIN for user name, however a couple months ago, when logged in, all my comments are automatically awaiting approval and never published, while I can easily post a comment without being logged in. Please fix it.
Unique users & usernames can still easily be spoofed – which causes a lot of headaches with silly childish comments. Please fix this requiring unique logins & IDs, and ban the childish users.

Clearly the people who control this site don’t care about the users. They solicited opinions but clearly don’t care what people think. I am checking out from VIN and not likely to come back.
