NEW YORK (VINnews)-Mayor Zohran Mamdani was prevented from delivering remarks Friday at the funeral of Army Sgt. Angel Sarah Rampersad, a 28-year-old Queens resident killed in an Iranian missile attack.

The service for Rampersad, one of three U.S. soldiers who died July 17 in the strike on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, took place at Calvary Assembly of God in Ozone Park, Queens.

Mamdani sat in the fourth row and reviewed prepared remarks on an iPad while Gov. Kathy Hochul, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards and other officials were invited to speak. He was not called to the podium and appeared frustrated afterward, according to sources familiar with the event.

Insiders said the decision stemmed from the family’s pro-Trump and conservative views, which conflicted with Mamdani’s democratic socialist positions and his criticism of Israel and U.S. actions against Iran. The family wanted to avoid political distractions, the sources said.

City Hall declined to comment. Mamdani’s office later released the text of his prepared remarks, which honored Rampersad’s service and sacrifice.

Hochul and other local leaders spoke during the service, which was followed by an NYPD procession.

”Insiders said the decision stemmed from the family’s pro-Trump and conservative views”. You don’t have to be pro-Trumpor particularly conservative to recognize that MADMANi is not on America’s side in this war. I am sure that he would have been welcome at the Ayatollah’s funeral though…

He belongs in Iran, where he will show his true self. How long can he stay behind that fake smile? He’s not hiding what he thinks . He is saying things against Israel, against Jews loudly and proudly. He is a Muslim. Go back where you came from!
