NEW YORK (VINnews) — A prominent American cardiologist who treated former Vice President Dick Cheney for nearly three decades has raised concerns about President Donald Trump’s physical and cognitive health, arguing that greater transparency is needed regarding the president’s medical condition.

In an opinion article published last week in The New York Times, Dr. Jonathan Reiner, a professor of medicine and surgery at George Washington University and Cheney’s longtime cardiologist, questioned whether Trump’s public appearances are consistent with the White House’s assurances that the president is in excellent health.
Trump, who recently celebrated his 80th birthday, has been described by his personal physician as being in “excellent health.” However, Reiner wrote that several publicly observable symptoms warrant closer scrutiny.
Among the issues he highlighted were prominent bruising on both of Trump’s hands, which the White House has attributed to frequent handshakes combined with aspirin use. Reiner argued that this explanation is not medically convincing.
He also pointed to significant swelling in the president’s legs, saying it could indicate underlying heart or kidney disease rather than the chronic venous insufficiency cited by the White House.
Reiner further referenced several instances in which Trump appeared to struggle to stay awake during official meetings in the Oval Office, describing the episodes as consistent with excessive daytime sleepiness.
The cardiologist also questioned why Trump reportedly underwent advanced imaging scans of his heart and abdomen at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center without a detailed public explanation of the medical reasons for those tests.
In addition, Reiner asked why an unusually large team of 22 medical specialists participated in what was described as the president’s routine medical examination.
He also questioned Trump’s repeated references to performing well on a basic cognitive screening test, noting that such tests are generally administered only when family members or healthcare providers have reason to suspect cognitive impairment.
Reiner argued that, unlike commercial airline pilots, military personnel or even school bus drivers, the president of the United States is not legally required to demonstrate medical fitness to remain in office.
Given what he described as the lack of transparency surrounding the president’s health, Reiner called for legislation establishing an independent congressional medical commission to evaluate the health of sitting presidents under the framework of the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
He said such a body would provide Americans with greater transparency and confidence regarding the president’s ability to carry out the duties of the office.
Maybe you should have first examined sleepy Joe’s health as well when he was president.
Another doctor violates his oath by diagnosing people without examining them. The NYT being a democratic party propaganda outfit of course publishes this drivel.
He sounds like the average 80-year-old. Except he is working his tail off 24-7. Pray for his continued good health and give him a break if he wants to take a #$%^^ nap in the middle of the day!
I don’t like the idea of having a president who is 80 years old, but I won’t take any of this from the Leftist Media who covered up Joe Biden’s brain disintegrating (oh, and his cancer as well.)
If Trump allows many doctors/tests to examine him, they say “What’s wrong with him that he needed so many tests?” If he doesn’t get examined, they say “Why isn’t he allowing these examinations to be done?” The definition of ‘lose-lose’!!
Did this doctor also raise concerns about the state of Biden’s health while in office or does this doctor just have TDS?
He’s not a young man.
Physical well being has nothing to do with being able to run business.
What does that have to do with being fit to be the president?
This is such BS coming from such a self-adulation hypocrite physician desperate for clicks. His so called Dick Cheney patient he advertises was an obese slob with major cardiovascular disease, enduring five heart attacks – 3 under his tenure – and major vascular disease who’s only exercise was pulling a rifle trigger (and occasionally shooting his hunting buddies). Instead of steering him to health via proper ketogenic diet and exercise he let his patient to some of the most poorest quality of life on his last decades.
I don’t consider Trump the epitome of heath either, but he’s lucky with good metabolic geenes, he’s more physically active on the golf course and has far better BMI shape than Cheney despite his less than stellar diet. To sum up: Trump is far in better shape at 80 than his Cheney patient was at that age.
Like many mentioned go bark at the lying fool presidential medic who treated Biden.
Cheney’s cardiologist yet Cheney was dead at 84, is this doctor past his prime, why are so many of his patients dead? Did his incompetent lead to the death of the former VP? He is a democratic party hack shilling for their agenda, just another scum democrat using his position to supoort the scum democrats.
It’s all to keep Iran off guard before the big attack
It’s funny how Trump has so many real issues that make him unfit. Yet we pick on these little things.
