The rally, organized by Brooke Goldstein of End Jew Hatred, brought together local officials and community members. Participants expressed gratitude for the rapid response by Surfside police, who arrested a suspect in the incident.

Meiner, chair of the Jewish Mayors and Municipal Leaders Association, said, “Hate has no home in South Florida. We stand shoulder to shoulder with our Jewish neighbors, and with every community targeted for simply being Jewish.”

The gathering followed an Aug. 16 assault in which a man approached a visiting New York couple on Harding Avenue, directed antisemitic remarks at them, punched the husband in the head and threatened to kill him, according to police. Jorden Stephen Perozo, 35, was later arrested and charged with battery with prejudice and harassment or intimidation based on religious or ethnic heritage.

Danzinger has emphasized that such incidents are not tolerated in Surfside and praised law enforcement for treating the case with the seriousness it warrants.
