JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Col. Efrat Kaykov will become the first woman to command the IDF Artillery Corps’ 282nd Regiment, a standing army artillery formation, the military said Monday.

Kaykov is among dozens of senior officers included in a new round of appointments by IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir.
She currently commands the 213th Reserve Artillery Regiment and previously served as deputy commander of the 282nd. She was also the first woman to command a battalion in the Artillery Corps.
The 282nd Regiment is a regular-army artillery unit. Kaykov’s appointment marks the first time a senior female officer has been selected to lead it.
Woman should not be serving in men’s army units.
It is more than a halacha question.
Woman’s presence among men is distraction from concentration on the work at hand.
And being alert and mindful of ones duties in a combat situation is a matter of life and death.
