NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (VINnews) — Newly released surveillance video shows a woman attacking a Jewish teenager at a North Miami Beach Target earlier this month in what police described as an antisemitic incident.

WSVN published the video Monday, providing a new look at the Aug. 2 confrontation inside the Starbucks at the Target on Biscayne Boulevard.
Police said 43-year-old Chyvonne Juanita Palmer approached the teenager, who was wearing a yarmulke, and struck him twice with a cellphone.
According to the arrest report, Palmer later grabbed a metal chair and raised it as she approached the teen again. A witness told police she repeatedly shouted, “I hate them.”
The teenager was able to get away after bystanders intervened.
Palmer was arrested and charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with prejudice and disorderly conduct. The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office Hate Crimes Unit is handling the case.
The release of the video comes as South Florida’s Jewish community continues to deal with concerns over antisemitism. Days after the North Miami Beach incident, a Jewish man was attacked in Surfside in a separate incident that also raised concerns about antisemitic violence.
As Grandpa would say, come home while you can, and may I add, do it with happiness and thank Hashem that it’s possible.

An attack like this goes beyond physical harm. It violates a person’s dignity. The right to walk safely in public, to simply exist without fear, is fundamental. It is a shared responsibility to ensure that safety and dignity for everyone.
The “Rabbis Patrol” whereby cops would dress up as Chassidim, must be established in Florida, as well as in NYC, where it operated years ago. It proved very effective, but for political reasons, it was disbanded.
I believe the common term for this behavior is “chimping out”.
When someone attacks another person for their identity, it is an attack on our shared humanity. We build a more connected world when we stand together against such acts. Justice for victims requires holding attackers accountable, and it also requires us to speak plainly about the harm done.
This kind of violence is horrifying. It’s a reminder that hate isn’t just words; it escalates into physical attacks. The community deserves to feel safe, and swift justice is essential when this happens.
These attacks are not about Florida or NYC (although the law can reduce the occurrence of repeat offenders), they’re about specific groups of Americans who believe the Jews are actually causing all the worlds problems. When you have an unhinged individual who’s convinced Jews are bad, these attacks are sort of inevitable.
The fact that we don’t have more is a tremendous kindness from the boss.
And no, the frequency of these incidents does not warrant large numbers of Jewish families living in a solid framework of religious infrastructure to uproot their lives and risk upsetting the apple cart.
