The military said troops from the Commando Brigade shot down the drone before it could strike. No soldiers were injured.

“This constitutes a blatant violation [of the ceasefire] by the Hezbollah terror organization,” the IDF said in a statement.

The army said the drone was launched at forces operating in Israel’s security zone in southern Lebanon. In response, the IDF said it launched strikes across the south.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry said three people were killed and 23 others were wounded in Israeli strikes Friday, including medics, women and children. The IDF did not immediately address those figures.

Hezbollah did not immediately comment.

The incident is the latest in a series of drone attacks by Hezbollah against Israeli forces in southern Lebanon since fighting resumed earlier this year. Israel has said it will continue operating in the security zone until the terror group is disarmed and can no longer threaten Israeli troops or communities along the northern border.

Hezbollah’s drone attacks are not just acts of aggression; they are a direct challenge to any vision of regional stability. We must move beyond simply reacting. Dominating terror means breaking its appeal, severing its funding, and implementing clear, decisive responses. This is about national strength and taking responsibility for our security, not just managing threats.

An explosive drone attack and then retaliatory strikes are a serious escalation. When a group like Hezbollah operates across a border, it makes peace impossible for everyone nearby. The lives lost today in Lebanon are a tragedy, and the cycle of violence continues.
