The IDF said it struck Sunday in the Al-Shati area of Gaza City and eliminated Sabhi Hadr Al-Atham Al-Batrihi, an Islamic Jihad operative who took part in planting explosive devices targeting IDF forces operating in Gaza.

In a separate strike last week, the military said it killed Ahmad Fuad Khalil Khalas, identified as a Nukhba terrorist in Hamas’ military wing. Khalas also planted explosive devices and operated against Israeli troops, the IDF said.

Both men had recently advanced terror attacks against IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians “in systematic violation of the ceasefire,” the military said. The strikes were carried out to remove the threat they posed.

The IDF said steps were taken before the strikes to mitigate harm to civilians, including the use of precise munitions and aerial surveillance.

IDF troops under Southern Command remain deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement and will continue to operate against any immediate threat, the statement said.

Hamas and Islamic Jihad did not immediately comment on the identifications.

The announcement came as the IDF said at least 14 terror operatives had been killed in Gaza strikes over the past week, including several commanders in Hamas’ elite Nukhba force.
