LOS ANGELES (VINnews) — Jewish actor Adam Brody, who plays a rabbi on Netflix’s hit romantic comedy “Nobody Wants This,” said in a new GQ interview that he regards Israel’s war in Gaza as a genocide and supports a “free Palestine.”

Brody, known to many viewers from “The O.C.,” told the magazine he had discussed the conflict privately but had not spoken about it much in public until now.
“Put me down as thinking it’s a genocide. Put me down as wanting a free Palestine,” he said. “It’s awful that it’s taken so much death and misery, but it does feel like it’s reaching a breaking point that it should have a while ago. I’m hopeful that another administration can really do some good and correct some of these policies that are helping that situation be as awful as it is.”
The comments came as Brody discussed his volunteer work for the progressive group Swing Left ahead of the November midterm elections. Season 3 of “Nobody Wants This,” in which he stars opposite Kristen Bell, is scheduled to premiere Oct. 22.
Brody also said Hollywood had become more “outspokenly” conservative during President Donald Trump’s second term. He argued that after the shock of Trump’s first victory produced a wave of activism, the second term made public dissent feel riskier.
“Again, as one side has more power, it makes sense that it draws people to it for all the human reasons that would be attractive: groupthink, your own well-being, your own money and success,” he said.
Christian Toto, founder of Hollywood in Toto, disputed that framing. He told Fox News Digital that industry groupthink remains strong and that voicing hard-left views is still “the most pro-career move an actor can make in 2026,” especially among fellow performers.
Israel and its supporters reject the genocide charge. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called the accusation one of the great lies of the century, arguing that Israel is fighting Hamas, which launched the Oct. 7, 2023, massacre and continues to hold hostages. Critics of Brody’s remarks note that he plays a rabbi on a show that has generally avoided the war, and that a number of other Jewish entertainment figures have publicly rejected the genocide label.
Brody’s representatives did not immediately comment.
The interview adds Brody to a small group of high-profile Jewish actors who have used the term “genocide” about the Gaza war, even as many others in Hollywood have either stayed silent or spoken in defense of Israel.

It is clear to me that Jews with no Torah-mooring, i.e. secular Jews, have a very strong psychological need for social acceptance by Gentiles. I suspect that we are seeing this phenomenon now with the “Free Palestine” garbage. We saw it 50 years ago in the US with the Jews for J wackos, it was evident in the Jews who converted to Xianity in Germany 1800-1935 and in 15th century Spain. Now many proud, educated Jews express disappointment that they were born with only two middle fingers to show the Jew Haters.
