Nyhederne TV2 (http://bit.ly/MfMLsk) reports the new law will go into effect Feb. 17. Danish slaughterhouses will no longer be able to apply for an exemption to prior stunning of animals after that date.
But some religious officials state the new law interferes with freedom of religion, including members of the Jewish Society and the Islamic Religious Community, both in Denmark.
Food Minister Karen Hækkerup requested last August that religious slaughter without stunning be banned in Denmark, putting the new law into motion.
The Jewish Society and the Islamic Religious Community have tried to meet with the current food minister Dan Jørgensen to express their concerns regarding the new law.
Jørgensen has refused the meeting and referred the groups to the DVFA (Danish Veterinary and Food Administration).
According to the World Jewish Congress, the ban will have little practical consequences for Jewish life in Denmark since for the past ten years all kosher meat sold in Denmark has been imported from abroad.
I’m waiting for germany and poland to ban schita, than the circus will be complete
Read away. It is already banned in Poland
That’s it – I think we should all boycott Danish.
No more cheese or prune for me!
At one time, the Danes were friends to the Jews, including the 1943 rescue, just before Rosh Hashanah, of nearly the entire Jewish population of Denmark. However, in recent years, both Denmark, and Sweden (which took in Jews from Denmark), have changed their attitudes. It is not only with Shechita, but their constant anti-Israel votes at the UN, and their support of issues, which are not in our interest.
let’s remember that this is the same country that just killed a giraffe in a zoo for some silly reason and had the animal cut up and fed to lions in front of a group of children. They want to teach jews about being humane. Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you need stunning first, why did they shoot a baby giraffe at the zoo in Denmark because it was unfit to reproduce!? No stunning there?!
Just give it a few more years as the Muslims are taking over most european countries and they will have enough members is Parliment to over throw those new regulations……
During WWII Danes risked their lives and saved all
Danish Jews smuggling them out across the Skaggerak to Sweden and the Danish King wore the yellow star. Shechita maybe was not so popular . Being a vegetarian is not bad. Switzerland bans shechita and the meat comes
from Strasbourg. Your is an American problem to consume a lot of meat
Europe never emerged from the dark ages. The only difference between then and now is that they have TV and internet. Aside from that they are the same barbarians.
To #11 -The story about the Danish King wearing a yellow star, is a myth, which has lasted for decades. In fact, it never occurred.
“The Danish Hunters’ Association has approximately 93,000 members who are
organised in some 900 local hunters’ clubs spread throughout Denmark. The purpose of the Association is to ensure Danish hunting/shooting interests and game availability and to promote the reputation of hunters in general.”

Do they stun the animals before shooting them?
What happens when they only wound the animal and it suffers a few hours before dying.
This they do for “sport”, but slaughter for food they won’t allow.
Typical christian anti-Semitic hypocrisy!
