De Blasio lives in Gracie Mansion, which is on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
But he still commutes many days to the gym near his former house in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
That’s a 12-mile drive that can take well more than 30 minutes in traffic. Afterward, he then has another 4-mile drive to City Hall.
The mayor drew criticism Friday when he remained at the gym during an armed standoff on Staten Island in which a firefighter was shot.
He said on Tuesday that he is “on duty all of the time” and is constantly in touch with aides no matter where he is.
De Blasio also suggested that many CEOs stress the need to create time to work out.
He exemplifies the word “dufus” to a tee!
All of a sudden he is inspired from the evil CEOs.
isnt this guy concerned about “climate change” so why drive so much, are there no gyms on the island of Manhattan?
He compares himself to a CEO???? NYC is not a corporation!!!! He wasn’t voted in by a board of directors–he was voted in by the citizens of NYC. As #1 said–dufus to a tee!!!
I hate defending the guy but he really didn’t need to go rushing to the scene.
The worst thing that can happen at some of these things is to have the mayor/governor/president show up.
The mayor and his wife are both great role models in many ways including their commitment to physical fitness. If only, halevei, that the majority for yidden in the Brooklyn neighborhoods would follow his lead and get out for a few hours a weeks from behind their shtenders and from their kitchens and go to the gym and exercise. There are plenty of fitness centers where one can work out and still be tzinisudike.
