“The immediate impact will be to raise prices on consumers and tax American business and manufacturers,” Walmart said, according to the CNN Money report.
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that he would impose 10 percent U.S. tariffs on about $200 billion worth of Chinese imports.
Walmart was not immediately available to comment outside business hours.
“Walmart Inc has issued a warning in a letter to U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer”
So the headline is incorrect: they didn’t warn Trump.
Hysteria over nothing. Walmart already has contracts on imported goods so this is only relevant in the long term , after contracts expire. By then tariffs will be gone and we will win the war. In fact prices will go decrease as we get a better deal moving forward.
I stopped shopping at Walmart, about six months ago, after giving them my business for years. I just got tired of dealing with the nasty and rude cashiers, who seemed to get worse. Whereas at one time Walmart was receptive to such complaints, and would take them seriously, today it could care less.
