Tel Aviv – Passengers belonging to the ultra-Orthodox community will soon also be able to enjoy a glatt kosher meal at Ben-Gurion Airport’s departure terminal while waiting for their flight.

The Israel Airports Authority plans to issue a tender for the operation of a first-of-its-kind glatt kosher meat restaurant at the terminal’s duty free area, following the growing demand for such a service on the part of haredi passengers.
Companies with experience in the field, which will meet preconditions set by the IAA, will be asked to make bids for the opening and operation of such a restaurant for a period of four years.
great about time last time i was in the airport i was starving and found no food exept some crackers at chabad center
about time, when are they opening one in jfk?
A good business oppertunity
WONDERFUL !!! But I wish it was Dairy. I would love a cup of coffee and a danish before I fly. Most flights back to the USA leave VERY early AM or mid morning and I would prefer Dairy.
jfk has the glatt kosher vending machines
Chasdei hashem ki lo sumni do you know what it means to be able to get a pastrami sandwhich right b4 I board?
Happy 61st Anniversary!
Note to the IAA dont give the contract to the mafia.
Great thing its a very smart idea
Ben Gurion has wonderful, completely kosher food — just because you choose to observe a non-existent “higher” standard, isn’t the airport’s fault!
zev. i hope those crackers were NOT during pesach !!!
wondering why they dont have any fruits at the airports
I travel a lot….and I don’t understand how come no one yet opened a mini take out in the 3 airport in new york and newark…I feel it would be a tremendous good business…most big travelrs decide the last minute to run,,,and we don’t get a chance to grab a bight!!!!!
How sad that in a jewish country it takes this long to get a real kosher restaurant in the main airport.
JFK had in the old terminal a kosher kiosk but did not do well
When does it open? Im flying soon
The dairy part of McDonald in Ben Gurion airport is kosher, with a good hechsher.
Why must people eat meat so much of the time? Most people in Israel and in the US eat way too much meat. They would be much healthier if they ate meat 4 meals a week or less.
The concessions at Terminal 8 (AA-international) at JFK also have kosher sandwhiches (at the stores by the gates, not the food court).
#6 ..if the eatery would’ve started to cater halel food for muslims, would’ve your reaction been the same, gauranteed not so #28 is right!!
If the place was nice and not a rip off, then non-chareidi people might frequent it too. It prob should be meaty – don’t lots of people not mind eating milky rabanut food?
b’teavon!
Every food establishment operating in Ben Gurion Airport is required to be Kosher. The only thing there is not, is “glatt” kosher, which is less universal in Kosher establishments in Israel (whereas almost all kosher meat places in the USA are glatt, since “they might as well” if they are going to be kosher anyway).
However, being as Glatt is for meat only – what is your problem with all of the non-meat establishments in Ben Gurion Airport?
Someone mentioned “I wish they had a diary one, so I could have a coffee before the flight to USA in the morning” – are you joking? All of the coffee places and dairy are kosher and chalav yisroel…
This new proposed establishment in Ben Gurion is for Meat only, and will be glatt, for the benefit of those passengers who don’t want to just eat dairy or parve. What is this “I was only able to eat crackers at the chabad stand”? Why not buy those same crackers at the coffee shop which is kosher, or eat salads, fruit, cakes, falafel, etc at any one of the many (all kosher) restaurants at the airport?
Do you need chasidishe shechita for your coffee too? Rather than be grateful for a law that requires all establishments to be kosher (and during pessach to be kosher le pessach and sell chometz) – you spread nonsense about everything in Israel’s national airport being treif?
Come on…
What is the big deal about those restaurants…I been flying for over 28 years all around the world and never left home without taking along home made sandwiches or getting one from the local shops…Those fast food concessions usually come frozen and get defrosted in the airport…Planes serve kosher meals(which usually is non eatable) but take some from home….
I always looked for one. Good News
