In an extraordinary and inspiring act of generosity, one prominent businessman from Flatbush donated more than $300,000 to Masores Bais Yaakov in Flatbush, which his daughter attends. The moeny is to be used to give bonuses to the teachers ahead of Yom Tov.
The man explained that Rebbeim and teachers are probably getting hurt the most as there has not been a major increase in their salaries despite the skyrocketing inflation we are seeing lately.
While the man insisted on remaining anonymous, he allowed his story to be published.
Below is a letter he wrote to the teachers.
If you ever wondered if you made a difference in the lives of your students, the answer is absolutely YES!!
THANK YOU for all your hard work and dedication.
THANK YOU for doing the very best for each of your students.
THANK YOU for all the time and effort you put into your students at home.
THANK YOU for teaching your subject matter so well and even more important…
THANK YOU for imparting beautiful values and being a proper role model for Middos Tovos and proper Hashkafa.
THANK YOU for taking each student as far as she can go academically, socially and Hashkafically – both as an individual and as a Bas Yisroel.
With deep heartfelt Hakoras Hatov,
A Grateful Parent
Wow. Its not only the money but the heartfelt thanks for the attention every students gets throughout the year that brings out the best in every individual. These people are a role model for klal yisroel.
Kol HaKavod
This is the type of thing that people should be doing with their money instead of wasting it on trips to Florida for Pesach, which is entirely against Hashkofas Hatorah. It is nothing than being steeped in Gadhmius
This doesnt change the fact that the teachers must be paid/compensated appropriately to begin with.
Beautiful
Yes
very nice.
It’s beautiful and yes the teachers deserve it but let’s call a spade a spade. True rabbeim and teachers haven’t seen a salary increase in line with inflation. But if they get food stamps that was increased to reflect inflation. Furthermore our rabbeim get plenty of increases and perks lately whether it’s misamcha lev or other food programs or various bonuses. They also tutor at night in the tune of $75 per half hour. The teachers do not get these perks so there is less of an argument for them.
Bottom line the real people suffering are us nerdy accountants or finance folks. We got a 1% raise and that’s it. Rabbeim do avodas hkodesh and deserve top pay. So that’s true . But they ain’t the ones being hurt most
Hmmm…wonder if this girl has a TV…
