JERUSALEM (VINnews) — In recent days both the Ashkenazi and Sefardi rabbinic leadership has insisted that there will be no compromises regarding the draft law, with the Sefardi rabbis even going as far as rejecting all compromise regardless of whether the charedi youths are learning in yeshiva. This was in response to a suggestion by Religious Affairs Minister Yaakov Mergi that the status of yeshiva students should be preserved in return for drafting those who are not in a yeshiva framework.

However in a startling departure from the rabbinic declaration and the Shas party’s policies, Interior Minister Moshe Arbel said in an interview that at least 1500 Chareidim must be conscripted annually, and the charedim must all conduct ‘soul-searching’ after October 7th.
כל המוסדות הללו -… pic.twitter.com/i7Z5sZ8XEt

Arbel stressed in an interview with “The Fourth Quarter”, a group seeking enlistment to the IDF without force and without attempts to change the character and culture of those enlisting, Arbel said that “The charedi public must internalize, especially after Oct. 7th, that there is no moral possibility to take communities – many of whom are not studying Torah- the Vaad Yeshivot cancels the status of 1500 each year, they must take part of the burden [IDF service]. Additionally there are a significant number of institutions for so-called “At-risk youth” for which there is no justification not to be involved in the process [of integration into the IDF]
In response, Rabbi Moshe Tzadka, head of the Porat Yosef yeshiva and one of the Sefardi rabbis opposed to any form of enlistment, attacked minister Arbel and said that “He has gone after his friends, he cannot be in Shas and one should not listen to him on enlistment or on any other topic.”
Rabbi Tzadka told journalist Yair Levi that “They are always amazed why we are against elections [Porat Yosef rabbis do not vote in elections]. They went to the Knesset and became accursed like their evil friends.”
Provide each base with a Kosher Mikveh, no girls or women, Glatt Kosher Chalav Yisroel.
Make a Holy Army.
With set times for prayer and Study.
A base is not a war zone
He did not “go after his friends “. His friends are all Israelis , not a small group of Haredim . Most Israelis want them to serve in the IDF.
“Immoral situation”
Finally someone calling it what it is.
A man that sees the hand writing on the wall and his suggestion to elevate the problem is more then reasonable
This miring I was attacked by an abnormal amount of right wing Israeli youth collecting moneys while I tried to daven
Suggestion join the army get paid and get training to support yourself
Rabbi Tzadka is not a part of Shas and has openly said such in this article. But each article tries to potray him as a member of the chachmei hatorah. Please stop doing this. The only important one is the sefardi letter and this is decrying the situation and the idea bachurim will turn into criminals. As to passing a draft law I will state again the rosh yeshiva of sderot gets it. This should never have been forced or you will get this. Tzvi Yaakovson has an article on yated demonstrating the actual chareidi position. I feel bad for the minister as before there was a push to resolve the issue unfortunately the supreme court that can overrule basic laws forced the issue.
Well,he should show the example. One should never lecture others without being above reproach himself .He could enlist at his age.
Check his yichus. I’m having questions.
