Israel – One of Israel’s most notorious criminals allegedly was caught in the act of robbing a Jerusalem store specializing in Jewish historical items, police said.

Yitzhak “The Brain” Drori and four alleged partners in crime were arrested. Police said that Drori had been under surveillance because investigators suspected that his supposed reformation was a sham.
Drori was credited with a 1976 gold and jewelry robbery and with breaking into five bank vaults in 1985 and stealing millions of dollars. He wrote two books on his criminal past after his release from prison a decade ago.
Investigators said that Drori and his confederates were breaking into the store using a hydraulic device to cut through a wall. They were scheduled to appear in court Sunday, where police planned to ask that they be held without bail. [ynet]
