Dresden, Germany – The synagogue in the eastern German city of Dresden has been daubed with swastikas, ahead of the anniversary of Germany’s 1938 pogrom night, police said on Sunday.

Roughly six metres of the synagogue’s outside wall had been covered in the Nazi symbol, despite regular round-the-clock police surveillance.
Heinz-Joachim Aris of the Association of Jewish Communities in Saxony expressed shock at the deed. An investigation has been launched.
November 9, 1938 is remembered as the “Night of Broken Glass,” when Jewish shops, houses and synagogues were destroyed, accelerating the systematic persecution of Jews in Nazi Germany.
