According to police and the Transportation Security Administration, the passenger didn’t wake up when her United Express flight from Dulles airport outside Washington landed shortly after midnight Tuesday. At about 4 a.m., a cleaning crew found her.
United Airlines says they’re working with a regional partner carrier to determine why the plane wasn’t cleared upon landing.
Its poshut to me -They didnt find her as they were sleeping as well! No need for any investigations wasting time & money.
Does this mean that travelers on public transportation will have to be responsible for themselves?
The last time I flew, they wouldn’t let me get any sleep at all.
Soon they’ll charge her extra for staying an additional 4 hours
Is she still there under investigation? Did they let her out on bail??
I just wonder how the Stuarts didn’t wake her up before landing that she should put her seat in the upright position…
I once fell asleep on a train and was awakened in the yard by the train engineer as he made his way through the cars. The lights were off and for a few moments I had absolutely no clue where I was. The engineer was kind enough to give me a lift to the last stop. Ultimately, I had no one to blame but myself.
Why would any one wake up some one who is in a deep sleep..? I think the airline should be proud of letting their passengers getting a good night sleep….
They are investigating the fee they can charge for sleeping 4 hrs on a plane.
Amazing because if a passenger is on board and not noticed we can assume the security is asleep. Anybody working at an airport can get access and do leave G-d forbid bad stuff. We assume the cleaning staff has eyes open but if they miss a whole person
When travelling the traveler should be responsible YET the airline has some responsibility. Things like this can happen.
As W.C. Fields once said “I spent a month in Philadelphia one weekend.”
This should not surprise anyone. There have been incidents involving school bus drivers who leave small children on buses, completely unattended, claiming that they didn’t know they were left on the bus. Flight attendants are supposed to check the aircraft to make sure everyone is off. Also, what about parents who go to work with small children in car seats, and then leave them in the car, unattended. There have been incidents where such children have been found dead in the car. The defense of the parents- I FORGOT THAT THEY WERE IN THE CAR! Half of those cases aren’t even prosecuted. Even when parents are prosecuted in such cases, they receive relatively light sentences.
I can’t imagine sleeping so soundly on a plane. I can’t sleep at all, even on a ten hour flight.
They should have just taken her out with the trash. She should be held responsible for her own actions and not leaving the aircraft when it landed.
They probably thought she was dead if the noise & activity of deplaning passengers didn’t wake her up.
She must have been pretty tired! glad she got sum xtra zzz
