Washington – A White House official says an intern to Rep. Gabrielle Giffords who helped the congresswoman after she was shot will sit with first lady Michelle Obama Tuesday night for President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address.

Daniel Hernandez was hailed as a hero for helping Giffords after she was shot through the head. She was among 19 people who were shot during an event she was holding with constituents on Jan. 8.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the White House has yet to release the names of all the first lady’s guests at the historical address.
