The cards will provide users with savings between 10 percent and 50 percent, depending on the medication and the brand, said County Manager David Fanslau.

“While the program will be of most benefit to residents lacking prescription drug insurance, all county residents are eligible to participate regardless of age or income,” said County Legislature Chairman Jonathan Rouis. It can even be used for discounts on pet medication.

Beginning next week, ProAct will mail over 40,000 prescription drug discount cards to Sullivan County residents. There are no enrollment forms to fill out, no membership fees and no income requirements,

There are 39 counties in New York offering the program.
