New York – Following a press inquiry by The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday, Delta Airlines removed the word ‘Occupied’ from “Occupied Palestinian Territory” on its list of destinations in the Middle East.

A media relations official from the company said “the phrase was mistakenly posted to our web site and immediately removed when brought to our attention.”
It does not appear that the wording was intentionally used in order to attract customers who would not like to read the word “Israel” when booking a holiday, as Israel can clearly be seen in the list of destinations as well.
The Palestinian territories have no operational airport. The Yassir Arafat International Airport outside Gaza City, which opened in 1998, has remained closed since it was destroyed by the Israel Defense Forces in 2001, shortly after the outbreak of the Second Intifada.
Lets deal in reality here. Delta is in the business of flying. How can you offer a destination area that does not have an airport?
They meant to say that it is ISRAELI LAND given to the Yidden by Hashem B”H but now being Occupied by Palestinian Terrorists.
You’ve got to give Delta credit. They did their research. (Of the generations of Palestinians who were forced to be disenfranchised 64 years ago, many are still alive today, and deal with the trauma every day.) Words are only going to heat up more disputes, but that’s still more civil and optimistic than perverse physical battles..
If those who were/are offended by Delta’s title of “Occupied Palestine” locale should create an open forum for all sides to partake in a discussion. Then push everyone out who uses their partisan bias to grandstand progress, and show up for an egalitarian benefit.
This has NOTHING to do with Israel’s airport in Lod. Delta was part of a group of airlines that was going to offer service to the planned airport that has been on hold for something like 10 years. Slow news day.
I think they should continue to build their own airport. (Unless they ran out of money??)
