Rockland County, NY – Following “much deliberation,” the trustees of Congregation Emanu-El have decided to remove 49-year-old Rabbi Alfredo Borodowski from his post as the executive director of the Skirball Center of Adult Jewish Learning at Temple Emanu-El in Manhattan, LoHud.com reports (http://lohud.us/12HK6Ib).

As previously reported on VIN, Borodowski was arrested on June 19 and charged with first-degree criminal impersonation for masquerading as a police officer and making phony traffic stops while flashing a fake police badge.
“It is in the best interests of the Congregation to terminate his employment as Executive Director of the Skirball Center for Jewish Learning, a position which is so crucial to our religious mission,” said Dr. Mark W. Weisstuch, the Congregation’s administrative vice president, in a statement.
Thus far, three victims who were falsely pulled over by the rabbi have reported their experiences to law enforcement.
Borodowski is still employed as the rabbi of Congregation Sulam Yaakov in Larchmont, which has not yet commented on the charges.

His other job is with a “conservative” temple in Larchmont where it seems he’s still employed.
I wonder what Emanual’s Skirball’s “religious mission” is. I uderstand that there is not a single Jewish descendant from the founding fathers of Temple Emanual
Ironic. The first title that he lost may have been his only legitimate one: executive director.
Labels don’t matter; only Torah. And Jews who don’t keep Shabbos, kashrut, or mikveh are not practicing Judaism, even if they are “nice people” like my lovely but goyishe neighbor.
What’s phony here isn’t his status as rabbi–that’s phony beyond question–but the refusal to recognize that some Jews believe in accountability, and the vast majority of them don’t seem to be “charedim”.
He put the plum in the card and walked away from his own winnings.
It makes no difference whether or not this individual is frum, non-frum, conservative, reform, reconstructionist, etc. The fact of the matter is not only did he impersonate a cop, but it appears that he actually detained some motorists, with his phony traffic stops. People should note that there are many individuals who go around with phony badges. The public should always be suspicious, and ask for a photo id card, with someone’s name. All NYCPD personnel are supposed to carry those photo id cards, especially detectives.
This guy showed incredibly poor judgment and he is paying the price. He is, in professional parlance, a YO YO.
Those here who are so proud in their attacking this man. Frum Jews should look inward sometimes. We have kept people teaching who were charged with sexual assaults on children. We have attacked victims when the perpetrator of a crime is a supposedly frum Jew. Perhaps a little introspection might be called for.
