Washington – Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has a confession: She “wasn’t 100 percent sober” when she fell asleep at the president’s State of the Union address last month.

Ginsburg told an audience Thursday that she drank some wine at dinner before attending the speech, where cameras repeatedly caught her nodding off.
The 81-year-old justice says she had dined with Justice Anthony Kennedy and couldn’t resist the California wine he brought.
Ginsburg has dozed during the address in previous years. She says former Justice David Souter used to give her a pinch just before she drifted off. But now she sits between Kennedy and Justice Stephen Breyer, and she jokes that they are “too timid” to wake her.
With all due respect its high time this 81 year old retires.
I wouldn’t either be, if I had to sit through that.
I would have slept if I were sober
Breyer’s eyes are shut also !
I like her better now. This shows her human side.
She is probably more sane when she is drunk. She should have a pint before she renders a decision.
No, it’s because it was after her bed time
At 81 – she should hit the pillow at 6:30 pm!
I agree with #1 ; it is about time that Justice Ginsburg was given her honorable discharge, and that she leaves the bench. Incidentally, while at Justice on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, she ruled against Jonathan Pollard, in a 2-1 decision. If she had ruled in his favor, he might have been out of prison a long time ago.
Well after the insult obama gave them a few years ago, I wouldn’t blame them for not being able to stay awake.
You have to be drunk to sit there and listen to Obama’s ramblings. Even the Liberals on the Court know better.
Someone close to Justice Ginsburg said a while back, the she didn’t want to retire as long as Obama can choose her replacement. Maybe she’s becoming more sane as she ages?
collegial crowd – noone gave her a nudge to keep her upright.
