14 year old Chesky Sklarz of Airmont was struck at 8:26 last night on Route 59 not far from his Besen Parkway home by an eastbound Dodge Durango.
Route 59 was closed last night for several hours between Besen Parkway and Remsen Avenue for the police investigation which is still currently underway.
Sklarz, who sustained serious injuries, was transported by Hatzolah last night to Westchester Medical Center in Valhallah.
According to Lieutenant Mark Emma of the Ramapo Police Department it does not appear that Sklarz was wearing a bike helmet at the time of the accident.
No charges have been filed at this time against the driver of the dodge, 34 year old Wendi Williams of Nanuet.
“It does not appear that there is going to be a criminal investigation,” said Lieutenant Emma of the Ramapo Police told VIN News.
“There is still a lot of work to do here,” added Lieutenant Emma.

May he have a refuah shleima
May the boy have a refuah shelamah….parents need to take more control and assure their children wear helmets when their kids get on a bike. It is mamash real child neglect and abuse to allow a child to ride a bike without a helmet at any time but, especially on streets and roads where there is any traffic. It may be inconvenient but in the long term, they won’t feel the guilt that parents experience when there is a simplet step they could have taken to protect their child.
