Greece – British Chief Rabbi Eprhraim Mirvis headed up a low-profile delegation of United Synagogue rabbis on Thursday, as the group made a visit to see first hand the work World Jewish Relief (WJR) is doing in helping out at the country’s largest refugee camp in Macedonia.

THEJC.com (http://bit.ly/1MMhpB9) reports that Rabbi Mirvis said he and the delegation made the trip not only to see the work the WJR is doing, but to assure the near 10,000 refugees from Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, and Eritrea who are arriving at the camp daily that the Anglo-Jewish community “is serious about responding to the crisis in a big way.”
“The entire purpose of this trip is the follow-up,” Rabbi Mirvis said. “I’m enormously proud of the response of the community.”
Also accompanying the Chief Rabbi was Rabbi David Mason, of Muswell Hill United Synagogue and St John’s Wood United Synagogue’s Rabbi Dayan Binstock.
If this were truly a “LOW PROFILE” trip, we wouldn’t be reading about this on VIN and there would be no videos.
