The Press-Enterprise reports the clip posted online Monday was shot at a Riverside Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.
It shows a man asking “Is this Halloween?” while standing in front of the woman wearing the head covering, called a niqab. When the woman confronts him, he replies he doesn’t like her religion.
Voices can be heard shouting for the man to leave. A supervisor who identifies herself as Tawny Alfaro refuses to sell him coffee while saying he was being disruptive and racist.
The Muslim woman replies with a “thank you.”
The man and the Muslim woman are not identified.
Coffee Bean says it has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to discrimination. Alfaro couldn’t be reached Tuesday.
the question really is:
is a person allowed to express his opinion about another’s religion or not. Can I say Christianity is bad since it killed so many Jews during the Middle Ages? Can I say I don’t like the way Catholic priests dress all in black? Can I say I don’t like the way nuns dress, to severe, too dark, too etc….
Secondly, does it matter if I say it smiling and pleasantly or if I say it in a nasty and unpleasant tone?
Freedom of speech is not the same as being politically correct….
To #1 - Would you like if gentiles make fun of Jews because they are wearing kippahs and tzittis in public? It doesn’t make any differenceif they say it with a smirk on their goyish faces, or if they shout it out. Do you like it when gentiles or anti-semites should out at Jews, who are walking to Shul on Shabbos? Is that freedom of speech? I think not. There is a difference between freedom of speech, and hate speech
the coffee shop people used their freedom to not serve a disruptive annoying racist customer. that is their right too
To #12 and #13 - I have to congratulate you, Conservative Carl! This is the first time in history, that you didn’t mention your “Bro Mo”. Is he on vacation?
