BNEI BRAK (VINnews) — In the wake of the ruling by Rav Chaim Kanievski that people who violate health ministry regulations are considered to be a rodef (endangering other’s lives) and may be exposed for their actions, police reported a sharp rise in reports by residents of people violating isolation or of shuls still active in violation of public health regulations.

Local police supervisors are full of work as they are forced to scatter illegal minyanim taking place within shuls in contravention of health ministry directives and rabbinic rulings. Police also fined businesses and Kimcha D’Pischa distributions for not maintaining social distancing and not preventing gatherings.

Shlomi Malka of the city police force said that “it is a tough and painful task to close shuls and prevent minyanim from taking place but the dangerously high level of sickness in the city requires taking drastic measures. Supervisors are not warning anymore, they are enforcing regulations decisively and immediately.”

After residents complained on the Bnei Brakim group about a clandestine mikve for men still being used at 13 Nechemia street (Satmar), police came and sealed the mikve as well as fining those who were immersing there.
