NEW YORK (AP) – The death of a 5-year-old New York boy is challenging assumptions that children are less susceptible to COVID-19 complications, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Friday.

A 5-year-old boy in New York state has died of an illness possibly linked to COVID-19, and dozens of other children in the state have fallen severely ill with a similar malady that scientists have linked to the coronavirus, Cuomo said Friday.

Cuomo did not provide details about the child, who he said died Thursday. But he added there have been 73 reported cases in the state of children showing symptoms similar to Kawasaki disease — a rare inflammatory condition in children — and toxic shock syndrome.

The boy’s death is sad news for New Yorkers who believed children were largely unaffected by the coronavirus, Cuomo said.

“So this is every parent’s nightmare, right? That your child may actually be affected by this virus,” the Democratic governor said. “But it’s something we have to consider seriously now.”

Dozens of children elsewhere in the U.S. have been hospitalized with the inflammatory condition that might be linked to the coronavirus and was seen in Europe.

Symptoms include prolonged fever, severe abdominal pain and trouble breathing.

So far we know
1) It “might” be linked to corona
2) 73 boys in NYS have reported it over 4.6M children.
3) One boy died tragic but one boy.
4) the curve is down
5) Most of us got it already.

Now lets look at the death risk, how many children die every summer from no structure/ on vacation etc..?
How many tzaras do we hear on a year there is camp? No imagine no camps and kids running around freely all day? We do know that we had one death form an 18 yr old bochur for monsey who went on a road trip to AZ.

I care about lives like all of you and that’s why we need to do the safe thing and open camps

Rodef Archy, 73 kids have been diagnosed with PMIS. Many more have covid. You claiming ” to care about lives” Is a joke! All you care about is yourself. I wonder if any of those kids were infected because of you or the stupidity that you post. Do you wonder or care, Rodef Archy? You using the tragic death of that bochur to make your moronic point is a perfect example! Remind me again, where did you get your medical degree?

Basically, these kids are getting an autoimmune disease. Covid causes high levels of inflammation and that’s what these children have – extremely high levels of inflammation. Covid hampers the immune system the way severe cases of lupus and other autoimmune conditions do every single day. Here’s the horrible truth, and I know because I have an autoimmune disease that wreaks havoc on my body: they don’t have a cure for autoimmunity and they don’t have a cure for covid. All of those amazing drugs you see on Tv and in the magazines work only on a fraction of individuals. The rest of us get no relief or very little, while the drug companies tout exceptional results. Lies.

Very suspicious that this virus has been around for over 18 weeks, has infected likely tens of millions, and we never heard of any kids getting Kawasaki. This has been in NY for 8 weeks any probably infected millions there too, and nothing. Suddenly, in the course of a few days, 73 kids get it and 3 die. Incidentally, this occurs at a time when there is heavy discussion of reopening the state for the supposedly low risk population, and in particular for the children. Very convenient for the opposers that the kids started getting sick this week. A fascinating coincidence. Cuomo is right – this is every parents nightmare. There are some diseases and dangers that all members of a society are susceptible to, young and old. Just ask the millions who died in Communist Russia.
