JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Rabbi Refael Aharon Roth, the Admor of Shomrei Emunim, passed away Thursday from coronavirus at the Laniado hospital in Netanya at the age of 72.

The rebbe was hospitalized before Tisha Be’Av after suffering from severe breathing difficulties. Since then he has been intubated and after his body systems failed this week, he passed away from the virus. The funeral will be at 3:30 from his shul in Bnei Brak and will pass the Shomrei Emunim shul in Meah Shearim on its way to the Mount of Olives where he will be interred near his ancestors.
The Admor was born on 17th of Cheshvan 5708 (1947) to his father, the son of Rav Aharon Roth, author of the Shomer Emunim and his mother who was a great-granddaughter of Rav Shlomke of Zvihel. He was named for his grandfather and studied in his youth in the Shomrei Emunim yeshiva until he received Semicha from Rabbi Shmuel Tobias of Piatra-Niamatz.
He served as the rabbi of the Shomrei Emunim community in Ashdod until his father’s passing in 2012, when he was appointed to continue his father at the Bnei Brak center of Shomrei Emunim.
The rebbe was known for his heartfelt prayers and charitable nature. Many people flocked to him for advice and encouragement and would come to hear his Divrei Torah which were printed weekly in the Chazer Emunim pamphlets.
The rebbe established the Shomrei Emunim yeshiva in Bnei Brak and chose the name Yeshivas Toras Avraham in memory of his father. He also established a Tzedaka distribution “Chasdei Cahim” in memory of his father..
The rebbe is survived by his 12 children and many grandchildren continuing in his footsteps, as well as his brothers the Admorim of Shomrei Emunim in Jerusalem, Ashdod and Kiryat Gat.
