It is unfortunate that the debate about vaccines for Covid-19 has caused great disunity in Klal Yisroel.  The solution, of course, is to listen to the Gadol HaDor- even if it appears to be against our gut feeling.

Rav Chatzkel Levenstein zt”l writes (Midos p. 130):  The yesod of Klal Yisroel is achdus.  Please spread this message and this video.

Good morning

I’m certain that as you publish your thoughts pretty much daily, you are open to other peoples thoughts.

Many aspects in our lives has changed, at one point what we considered the norm is no longer normal. This magaifa has brought terrible harm to klal yisroel. The amount of people lost, certainly seems bad. The mental health of many may take years of repair. This list can go on and on, no reason to elaborate further.

I am sure that we all want to and for the most part do listen to our Rabanim and Gedolim.

There are various opinions as to what measures to do and take. Amongst the Rabanim and Gedolim there are various opinions. Long as one follows the Daas Torah which they get guidance from, than great.

You suggest in the name of Rav Chatzkel that the yesod of Klal Yisroel is achdus. This video has nothing to do with achdus or even following Daas Torah which you also suggest is the solution.

The very headline and video is maybe causing the exact pirud that you are trying to eliminate.

Respectfully,

So let’s not discuss this topic. Let everyone do what their Doctor and Rabbi recommends. End of story.

There are videos and recordings of this same Gadol saying the opposite too. It’s hard to know what he really holds from a few second clip.

One thing we do know is he did not vaccinate himself.

Why is it called “pirud” when someone doesn’t agree with this article’s author? He can put out an entire article bashing a Rabbi E. who was quoting Gedolim. But that’s o.k.. Only if you are on the other side, then it’s called pirud.

Doesn’t the Torah teach us to seek medical advice from those most knowedgable in the medical field, as opposed to from Torah Sages?

If the author sincerely meant what he wrote about achdus, then perhaps the author could lead by example and apologize for deriding “the other side” (regarding this issue and others).

His “solution” of listening to gedolim is a great idea, but only if you, yourself, or an ehrlich Rav, known to you to be fully informed of the facts of the matter, has asked those gedolim. This, of course, excludes believing/listening to nonsense on the Internet being claimed in a gadol’s name.

We already know from the WZO voting disaster, that preceded (or, perhaps, precipitated) Covid, that Rav Chaim Shlit”a has been grossly misled by those with an agenda, as happened there.

Rav Aharon Feldman was locheim milchemes Hashem and tried stopping this disaster from happening and then afterwards at the Agudah convention berated by name the organization that was mesis umediach Klal Yisrael on the WZO vote. Just writing these words is almost unbelievable.

It is unbelievably shocking and sad how greatly the general level of sheker has, particularly since Covid, permeated (almost suffocating) the world, and that this has, unfortunately, also penetrated into, lihavdil, Klal Yisrael as well.

We need Mashiach so desperately.

Why do the protected
need to be protected from the unprotected
by forcing the unprotected
to use the protection
that didn’t protect the protected in the first place?

Nice video of Yanky claiming to speak in the name of his grandfather. It’s impossible to hear what Rav Chaim actually said.

Oh and I love how the discussion of don’t cause pirud is basically saying do what I want so we don’t argue. As long as you do things my way, we can be friends.
No, that’s not how it works. I do my thing, you do yours. We STILL respect each other and agree to disagree.

How do the words, ‘Klal Yisroel’, come in here? Since we believe that the vaccine is effective, we try to influence every person, Yid or Non-Yid to take it.
Please remember that we are a Caring Nation and we sincerely care for the well-being of every decent Human Being.

If I walked into a gadol, clearly explained the situation and got a Psak, you bet your life I would listen. Even if it was against what I wanted. But here we have an old story. The gadol unfortunately has been prepped to say things and videoed for small comments which are then taken out of context and disseminated as a royal decree from the gadol. Unfortunately and sadly they are often used by their less holy relatives to spread their own agendas. Anyone who hears these kinds of proclamations should wonder what question was posed, what information was presented, and if the rabbi would have changed his opinion based on individual details of each person. Rabbis do not issue one size fits all declarations when it is not a clear cut case of Halacha right and wrong. Many of us have long since doubted the veracity of these statements. It is not a question of not trusting the Rav but those who use him.

When it comes to vaccines, the best way to obtain information and decide matters is to ignore the gedolim and the huge, overwhelming number of rabbonim and medical professionals and instead seek information and guidance from people who do not understand science and/or believe there is a conspiracy amongst tens of thousands of people, including hundreds of frum doctors [who according to this “mehalech” must be getting bribed by Big Pharma to endanger their lives, the lives of their loved ones, and the lives of their patients. Isn’t that how we are supposed to decide halacha? By ourselves? Why listen to the Gadol haDor? What does he know? We know better.

There is an old saying, “it takes two to tango”
Who is to say who is the cause of of the Pirud, who is fully informed, who has the true science behind them, who is fooled by the establishment “experts” and who isn’t. . Just sayin’.

I’m kind of amused or I should actually say befuddled.
In the past, anytime Rav Chaim would pasken something the entire chareidi velt would proclaim the Gadol HaDor has spoken. And then, only ones who in chareidi velt that would disregard it would only be some radical chasidisher groups and Rav Aurbachs followers.
Suddenly now even “regular yeshivish velt” have decided they and their local Rabonim can override HaRav Chaim. Because it serves their purposes.
A new precedent!
Now that this precedent of disregard for Daas Torah is in place, it will be very interesting to see over the next few years how will people react & respect a Gadol’s future psokim. Once this previous untouchable barrier has now been ignored!

Even if these wrongful, malevolent Jews who refuse to vaccinate only harmed themselves, it would be exceedingly hard to leave them alone in order to avoid pirud, because, even wrongful and often malevolent, they are still Jews and we should wish them to stay alive.
But they are not only harming themselves. By keeping China virus epidemic alive, they are greatly endangering the rest of us, especially our most vulnerable. That’s unforgivable.

We need Aharon Cohen Godol to stop this מגיפה just like he did in the midbar. Let him wave קטורת הסמים to get the stink of מחלוקות out of our noses.

Maybe the reason that we can’t get clarity is because we didn’t listen to them. They said do teshuva, how many of us did that since yom kipper? Me included. So the mishegas continues

Rav Kanievsky is a gadol in Torah, but not in medicine. He said (if he really said it) to get vaccinated based on what the government health officials told him.

In the same way that we did not accept the opinion of government officials about Gush Katiph, about the importance of enlisting in the army or about just about anything else, one is allowed to disbelieve them about the gene therapy calling itself a vaccine.
