“I left the plaza of the Western Wall while still wearing Tefillin and entered Hashalshelet street. I heard a burst of fire. Within seconds, as I was trying to work out what had happened, I felt a sharp pain in my hand, where my Tefillin were. I saw the Tefillin covered in blood. I retreated backwards towards the Kotel to get treatment.”
Katzenellenbogen said that the speedy medical treatment was a “miracle, I’m alive, breathing and happy.”
One person was murdered in the terror attack, a man as yet unidentified in his 30’s who reached the trauma unit on Hadassah- Mount Scopus with a head injury and was declared dead at the hospital.
Another Jewish resident, Rabbi Aharon Yehuda, was seriously injured in the attack. Yehuda is hospitalized in Shaarei Tzedek hospital and his wife requested people to pray for Aharon Yehuda Ben Tova.
