JERUSALEM (VINnews) — The terror escalation in Israel, which has already led to three attacks in Jerusalem over the last two weeks, continues unabated. A 16-year-old terrorist rammed his car into a security guard near the Samarian community of Avnei Hefetz, moderately injuring him. The terrorist was shot and killed by other security guards stationed at the checkpoint, which is situated near the Palestinian city of Tulkarm.

The security guard was taken to the Tel Hashomer hospital where he underwent an operation and is in stable condition.

In the wake of the attack, Defense Minister Benny Gantz ordered all units to raise the level of preparedness at all checkpoints in Judea and Samaria. Gantz praised the security guards for their quick reaction to the attack.

MK Itamar Ben-Gvir (Jewish Force) responded to the attack, stating that “attack follows attack, since the lack of governance of the coalition with the Muslim Brotherhood has allowed terror to go on the rise. We warned that the government cannot rely on supporters of terror and the result is a wave of dangerous attacks. Its time that the Israeli government send a sharp and clear message to terrorists -we shoot to kill. Every terrorist who perpetrates an attack should have his house demolished and his family deported. This is the only way to achieve deterrence. I send my wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured security guard.”

Erez Tzidon, the director of checkpoints in the Defense Ministry, described the attack: “The car came at crazy speed towards the checkpoint, veered from the lane and tried to hit the three workers there. After one of the security guards was hit, his friends reacted and neutralized the terrorist.”

Residents of Avnei Hefetz called to close the entire road to Palestinian traffic as well as preventing Israeli Arabs from entering Tulkarm, “which leads to unrestricted commerce without any payment of taxes to the state of Israel and without any supervision of who enters and who exits.”
