In the address published in Yediot Aharonot, Rabbi Lau described the victims of the murderous terror attack in Bnei Brak. “Cruel terrorists shot them at point-blank range. They stabbed, destroyed entire families and caused many children to suffer tragedy,” he wrote.

“This month seems annually to become more and more violent and it is often claimed that terrorists have become more religiously extreme. I think the time has come that Muslim spiritual and religious leaders should stand up and say: enough! As long as religious leaders are not doing this, people have the impression that the Muslim religion allows and even praises such murderers,” Rabbi Lau added, stressing further that “from my conversations with Arab political leaders as well as Arab citizens and residents, they have condemned the horrific murders but there is a feeling that the religious leaders are giving backing or at least remaining silent on this matter.”

Rabbi Lau concluded that the religious leaders have a responsibility at this juncture: “If they don’t shout enough, they will not be able to say our hands didnt spill this blood.”

Qui tacet consentit.

Since 9/11, I’ve offered a $1000 reward to the first imam who can prove through Koran sources that Islam has a 4th alternative for non-muslims to converting, subjugation as a dhimmi, or being slain. No claimants.

Can we follow this line of thought a bit? It seems to lead us to the idea that Jews or Christians must protest when one of their community does something horrid.
