“This is a true miracle”, he said. “On Friday I came out of intensive care after an emergency operation and here I am on my way home on my two feet.”

The victim, a chareidi resident of the village of Meitzad in Gush Etzion, described the ordeal:

“I got on the bus with the terrorist, he was wearing earphones and acting suspiciously. He sat two rows behind me and I turned around and looked at him anxiously. Shortly afterwards I found myself in a struggle with the terrorist. The quick wits of another armed passenger who had a weapon saved my life as he eliminated the terrorist but not before he stabbed me 9 times in different parts of the body from head to foot including one stab in the heart. At one point I saw black and started losing consciousness and then the Hatzalah people arrived and treated me, transferring me to Shaarei Tzedek hospital.

“I wish to say thank you to everyone – to Hashem who gave me my life as a present since I could have been in another place. I wish to say the pasuk “I will not die, I will live and relate G-d’s acts.” I wish to thank the devoted team of doctors and nurses who saved my life and Am Yisrael who were united in their prayers for my recovery. My speedy recovery is a miracle, on Shabbos I couldn’t even get off my bed and now I am walking on my own two feet.”

The injured man thanked doctor Alon Schwartz, director of the Trauma Unit at Shaarei Tzedek who received him, as well as Dr. Daniel Fink, director of the Cardiothoracic Surgery department and Dr. Selis Hajer, director of Heart surgery.

Dr. Schwartz said that “due to the stab wound in the heart we were forced to make an emergency lifesaving operation. On Friday he was transferred from intensive care to a regular department. We are happy with the result and with the speedy recovery of the victim who is now on his feet just days after the serious injury.”
