A Goodwill Ramadan Meeting Between Settlers And Palestinian Arab Leaders Breaks Stereotypes

4

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — A remarkable meeting took place this week between Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan and some 20 sheikhs and religious leaders from the Palestinian Authority. The leaders sought to dispel the notion that they support terror and came to eat the traditional Ramadan Iftar meal together with Dagan to emphasize their desire for peace and goodwill with Jews. The leaders bravely faced the cameras despite the significant risk to them from Palestinian Authority leaders who view the settlers as their enemies and even endorse attacks on them.

Dagan, who hosted the event, welcomed them and wished them a “generous Ramadan” and they in turn expressed their desire for peace between Jews and Palestinians and condemned the recent terror attacks. The meeting demonstrates that there are other more moderate voices among the Palestinians who are willing to contemplate peace with Israel without preconditions.
