They were fact-checked by Elon Musk’s Twitter, and after their lie was exposed, the tweet was deleted. (Although the White House claims the deletion was just, um, coincidence lol.)

It seems there’s a new sheriff in town named Musk.

“Seniors are getting the biggest increase in their Social Security checks in 10 years through President Biden’s leadership,” the administration falsely claimed.

Yes, they are getting an increase. And yes, it’s because of Biden. But only because Biden’s disastrous economic policies have skyrocketed inflation rates.

Twitter’s Birdwatch program, which has existed for a while, attached a note saying that the reason seniors have gotten an increase is because social security is linked to inflation.

“Seniors will receive a large Social Security benefit increase due to the annual cost of living adjustment, which is based on the inflation rate,” the note said, which included a link to the U.S. Social Security Administration. “President Nixon in 1972 signed into law automatic benefit adjustments tied to the Consumer Price Index.”

The White House then deleted the bogus tweet. Although the Birdwatch feature is not new,  it had never been used to debunk a White House tweet, prior to Elon Musk’s takeover.

The scary part is–imagine if this fake news which was shared by the White House had not been exposed?

Millions of seniors would now falsely believe that Biden increased their checks, just days before Election Day. This sort of disinformation tactic is how the Democrats rig elections. And we finally have a social media platform that cares about the truth, which could be a death blow to the left.

When asked about the deleted tweet, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre claimed that the reason the administration deleted it was because it was “not complete.”

Sure.

“Look, the tweet was not complete. Usually when we put out a tweet we post it with context, and it did not have that context,” Jean-Pierre said. “So in the past, we’ve pointed out that for the first time in over a decade, seniors’ Medicare premiums will decrease even as their Social Security checks increase. That’s a little bit of context that was not included.”

I mean, you’re aware that you’re lying worse than the tweet was, right? Yes, the tweet was provided without context, and is therefore misleading. It’s also misleading (and worse so) to claim it was a “false” tweet. Not that anyone who reads you is looking for accuracy or nuance. Keep riling for dollars
