Something is wrong with Mr. Diveroli.

Why are you further instigating?

Young man, we’re guests in this country. The fellow behind the counter is wrong, but YOU should know better.

Reb Yid –
You should have deescalated the situation. Even if the employee was wrong. No, this is not about blaming the victim – it’s about sometimes, well most times you could win the battle and lose the war. WE need to to make a Kiddush Hashem – even when we have been wronged. Please reconsider for the future.

This actually seems more like one of those situations where fulfilling the Mitzvah of helping one’s enemy when he is struggling under his burden could have been fulfilled: “kisheroeh sonaacho rovetz tachas maso’oh, ozov taazov imo”.

While the employee was struggling with work/life and referred to him as “Jew” in an expression of frustration, it’s sure that a nice word would have gone a lot further than antagonizing him, nevermind getting him fired.

He could have said sething like “sounds like you’re having a tough day”, and given him a blessing that it should go better after he responds.

After all, if one sees his enemy struggling with his burden it is a mitzvah to help him, and if he calls you Jew while you’re helping, it’s still a Mitzvah to continue to help. How much more so here where his let’s just say harmless reference is actually the means he is using to communicate that he is struggling.

There was no slur. The word Jew is not a slur at all. The employee told the protagonist/ instigator that he has an issue with him and not with us Jews. Unfortunately our protagonist instigated this employee and then used the unfortunate increase in antisemitism as a vehicle for vengeance against this employee. Our protagonist is a power hungry control freak.

What was the religious slur? Didn’t hear it
Saying “Jew” is not a slur. Being unprofessional may be fireable, it there wasn’t a religious slur.

News reports say that the employee says he was triggered by the customer’s having started up with him first, taunting him about being gay.
So, he then called him Jew in return.

The guy gave him the biggest compliment ever. What zechus (merit) to called a Jew. Barron Rothchild would’ve given him a tip for that – if you know the story.

Perhaps this Dunkin’ location is not under supervision and the employee wanted to point that out to Mr. Diveroli. He may have said, “You’re a Jew. You should not be shopping here”
(Wonder how many people will think I’m serious)

From the rest of his Twitter seem like Virgin Voyages likes him either.
Maybe this guy at Dunkin wasn’t so thrilled that the ammo he bought from your brother Efriam were duds.

The employee was counting the money in the tip cup so perhaps there was some truth to what he was saying….
