The dead soldier has been identified as 19-year-old Ohr Yisraelov, a combat soldier from Bat Yam.
The incident occurred at a paratrooper training base for cadets during a nocturnal exercise at the firing range. The platoon performed a dry run and then did the exercise with live fire. During the exercise the rearguard covering the front group fired from a distance of 250 meters and hit the ensign, who was at the edge of the front group and was carrying a sticklight as is customary during nighttime exercises.
The details of the incident are under examination by the commanders and military police have begun investigating the incident. The soldier’s family has been notified.
“The IDF expresses its heartfelt condolences to the family of the soldier and will continue to support them,” the IDF said.
Earlier this month, an IDF officers course cadet was severely injured while preparing for a routine exercise. In that incident, the cadet sustained head and chest injuries when a heavy door of an armour personnel carrier fell on him.
In February, an IDF soldier suffered severe injuries and was hospitalized after being struck on the head during a training exercise.

so sad
So tragic

may the families of both soldiers be comforted among the mourners of zion and jerusalem.
I have become highly sensitive to these tragedies ever since my cousin, an IDF officer, was killed by IDF friendly fire in a training accident at close range by a friend using live rounds thinking they were blanks.
these accidents are happening way too often it seems there is a gross negligence by commanders or worse yet political decisions made to appoint people who are unqualified as commanders since they are leftists
