JERUSALEM (VINnews) — In its worst dreams, Israel could not have envisioned a scenario on which hundreds of Hamas terrorists freely infiltrated the southern border, spreading death and mayhem wherever they went and marching back across the border with over a hundred Israeli captives. Added: On Sunday morning the IDF eliminated a group of seven terrorists who attempted to infiltrate from the sea into Israel. Several terrorists also took a car and began driving northwards towards Ashdod before they were eliminated by IDF forces.

The depth of the Israeli failure is mind-boggling, defies imagination. It is a collosal failure on all levels, reminiscent of the Yom Kippur War debacle. Worse still, the enemy is implacable, based and hiding among millions of civilians and now holds Israel at its mercy with the large number of soldiers and civilians it has captured.
Israel cannot afford to mourn the over 300 people murdered and killed in battle on October 7th, there is no time for such luxuries. It must go on the offensive immediately, take the battle to the enemy, restore some of its shattered deterrent and most important ensure that such a threat will never exist again in Gaza.
The entire intelligence, strategic and tactical apparatus around Gaza will need to be revamped and restored. A 3 billion shekel obstacle, dubbed “the obstacle” in IDF terms, failed miserably to prevent Hamas terrorists from driving a tractor up to the fence and then invading with tens of jeeps crammed with terrorists. The vaunted air force of Israel was caught sleeping as the terrorists traversed two kilometers into Israel and started their murder spree. Using flying drones, the terror group that Israel had almost derisively dismissed until now neutralized the technological defenses, rendering Israeli observers blind to the invasion. There was hardly a tank between Hamas and the civilian communities and terrorists entered Ofakim, Netivot and Sderot as well as over ten villages with imperious authority, shooting at everything they saw.
All this time the three brigades ostensibly stationed in the region apparently were dysfunctional, with most of their forces sent to Judea and Samaria on the assumption that Hamas had more to lose from an offensive. This enabled Hamas to overwhelm the flimsy forces left near Gaza. Reinforcements arrived too late to prevent the carnage and were themselves attacked and forced to defend against the rapacious terrorists, leading to heavy military casualties as well.
Israel has lost the first stage of this war comprehensively. It remains to be seen how it will galvanize to deal a death blow to Hamas and all the terrorists in Gaza- once and for all.

There IS no ISRAELY ARMY anymore unfortunately. As painful as it is to hear And acknowledge, that is the bitter truth. The Arabs have been tormenting tortuturing and murdering Israelis since the first intifada with barely any repercussions.
The days of Israel being feared are long long over. And it’s all their own doing unfortunately.
This Constant tit for tat is a total joke let alone a deterrent. The reality is that Israel cannot or will not defend itself any longer let alone take the fight to the enemy….
