NBC news is not interviewing for their consideration for the lives of the hostages. The network has little regard for Israel.

During WWII there was a secular Jew who was hidden by a German woman in Berlin. He met up with another Jew who needed a place to hide and he took him in. This Jew was religious and for the few months he stayed he taught the secular Jew Torah and tefila . When the Russians entered Berlin they had a policy to shoot every single German man they found. This Jew was out in the street thinking it was now safe. A Russian soldier pointed his rifle at him telling him he was about to die damn Nazi. The Jew yelled out Shema yisroel that he had learned from his friend. The Russian put down his rifle and said in Yiddish oy veh bist du a Yid?

The point of bringing the story of the Jew in Berlin is… If a Jew has to identify himself as a Jew such as those soldiers who escaped from Hamas. Just insisting in Hebrew to the IDF they are escaped Israelis wasn’t good enough since it could easily be a Hamas trick. But to yell out Shema bhislavhus would probably have saved them.
