(VINnews) — The UK’s Sky News issued an apology after making an egregious comparison, equating the idea of voluntary relocation of Gazans to the treatment of Jews during the Holocaust.

During an on-air interview Friday, Likud MK Danny Danon was discussing an idea he had discussed in a Wall Street Journal op-ed, urging “countries around the world to accept limited numbers of Gazan families who have expressed a desire to relocate.”

Host Belle Donati falsely claimed that he had “suggested the ethnic cleansing of some of Gaza’s population,” to which he called out her lie and said that he was speaking only of “voluntary emigration.”

“I think anyone in the world who voluntary wants to move to another country should be eligible to do that,” he said.

Donati, who appeared impatient and arrogantly scoffed at Danon’s comments, replied: “Yes, the sort of voluntary relocation of many Jewish people during the Holocaust, I imagine.”

A shocked Danon replied, “How can you compare that, shame on you for that comparison…That is a shameful and antisemitic equation…This is pure antisemitism.”

Donati attempted to quickly move on to another question, but Danon would not allow it.

“I will not allow you to speak about the Holocaust and compare it to what’s happening today in Israel when we defend ourselves,” he said.

Later in the day a different anchor on Sky News issued an on-air apology, saying Donati “made a comparison between Mr. Danon’s comments on Israel’s war with Hamas and the treatment of Jewish people in the Holocaust. Sky News recognizes the complete inappropriateness of this comparison and the offensive nature of those comments.

“Sky News would like to apologize unreservedly for the comparison and to Mr. Danon personally for making the comparison.”

Sky news should apologize, but Belle Donati still has a mic and didn’t apologize. So the apology isn’t enough until Belle at the very least apologizes on air and takes a course on how to listen to what the interviewee says, even if it doesn’t fit your agenda.

Israel fails at hasbara repeatedly because they fall into the trap of these quicksilver, super vicious interviewers who have an agenda and are not interested in listening to what they say. Elyon Levy is more adept at handling these vixens, but even he, with his sharp, eloquent responses is simply drowned out because the interviewer controls the mic volume. Dont talk to Sky news UK! Or the BBC. Their anchors are mostly pro-palestinian, “I’ve made up my mind, dont confuse me with the facts.” Sky News Australia is generally much more balanced.
