Matan served in the 932nd Battalion of the Nahal Brigade. He was laid to rest at the Har Herzl Military Cemetery in Jerusalem. Matan is the 250th IDF casualty since the start of the Gaza maneuver in late October.
Neighbors and friends from the Neve Yaakov neighborhood described Matan as very devoted to his grandmother, a Holocaust survivor, as well as to his nephews and nieces. One of his friends said that he excelled in his studies, but would always help others, and was a very giving person.
May his blood be avenged.
Early Monday morning, the IDF troops launched a precise operation at the Shifa Hospital compound in the Gaza Strip.
The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said the operation was based on intelligence information indicating the use of the hospital by senior Hamas terrorists to conduct and promote terrorist activity.
The IDF clarified that troops would continue the humanitarian efforts in the area, both throughout and following the conclusion of the operation, providing food, water, and medical supplies to the patients and civilians in the hospital’s compound.
