LAKEWOOD, NJ (VINnews)-In an unexpected twist straight out of the world of Jewish satire, a song originally meant to parody the upbeat, feel-good style of Orthodox pop has become the biggest Frum hit of the year. The track, titled “Yum Yum,” was released in collaboration with the popular Jewish music label @TYHnation—and it’s currently topping Orthodox Jewish music charts.

The mastermind behind the viral sensation? None other than the enigmatic and hilariously offbeat “Awkward Bochur”—a satirical social media persona known for his sharp humor and affectionate jabs at Yeshiva culture. The character, a fictional yeshiva student portrayed as Moshe Freshwipes, is the brainchild of a married businessman living in Lakewood, NJ, who runs the popular X account @endimem_music.
“Yum Yum” was initially conceived as a spoof of TYH’s famously cheerful style, but the label was so charmed by the track’s playful energy that they decided to fully produce and release it. The official launch came with a wildly entertaining AI-generated video that perfectly matches the song’s whimsical vibe.
Awkward Bochur’s layered universe includes a cast of hilarious alter-egos like Rabbi Greenspan, Pinchos Lurkowitz, and Reb Zelig, who all contribute to a unique blend of humor, commentary, and joyful absurdity. What started as a niche joke has now become a musical hit embraced by the mainstream Orthodox world.
“Turns out, the line between parody and perfection might just be one “Yum Yum” away.
It is just mensch how low our generation has fallen
Nauseating. Gross. No other words.
