WASHINGTON D.C (VINnews)-In a fiery exchange on CNN, political commentator Scott Jennings dismantled host Kasie Hunt’s concerns over the impact of President Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” on Medicaid recipients and rural healthcare providers.

The segment began with Hunt suggesting that the legislation could devastate rural hospitals by cutting Medicaid coverage for vulnerable populations.

“I actually know too much about this because I used to be a health care policy reporter on Capitol Hill, okay?” Hunt said. “The people that are really going to suffer — and the reason this is a problem for Lisa Murkowski and Josh Hawley — are the rural hospitals with emergency rooms into which people like that may walk. And if they don’t have Medicaid, that hospital is not getting any money from that person or from the federal government.”

Jennings, however, pushed back hard against that framing, arguing that the bill’s Medicaid changes target only specific groups.

“Who does it cut Medicaid for?” he asked. “Illegal aliens, and people who won’t get off grandma’s couch despite being able-bodied adults.”

He added that Hunt’s argument failed to acknowledge critical components of the legislation meant to address rural healthcare concerns.

“Well, the Senate included a massive fund for rural hospitals… to cover just what you’re talking about,” Jennings noted, pointing out that the legislation anticipates the exact scenario Hunt described and provides federal support accordingly.

What is the point in cutting Medicaid for illegals and jobless by choice, when they will visit the emergency room for free and the government has to supplement the hospitals for the loss in recouping the emergency fee by the order of 50 Billion dollars as asserted by Scott Jennings?

Actually, it harms mostly older women. And the frum community is not exempt. I so wish you people were more informed. It’s sad to see Yidden who have become Fox News-addled cultists. If you look at the exemption provisions of the bill, unwed teen mothers making baby after baby along with “rehabbing” drug addicts are exempt from the work requirements, while 64 year old seniors, many women, have to search for work in an ageist workplace with few jobs in order to receive much needed healthcare. This bill will undoubtedly also injure many poorer frum families, too. It is pure rishus to take away medical care and food from vulnerable populations to feed the rich. It goes against the very Torah values we are taught to behold.
